Since I have accepted a different position with Extension, I will no longer be able to attend meetings on a regular basis. I was surprised with a beautiful Thank You gift. I also want to say “THANK YOU” to all of you for all the knowledge I’ve gained as a part of this organization. Please keep up the good work. NEW BUSINESS: v Slate of officers for 2007 was presented as follows: o President – Jane Oswald o Vice President – Ann Lynady o Secretary – Frankie Ferraro o Treasure – Cheryl Rutkowski No other nominations from the floor – Diane made a motion to close nominations, seconded by Terri. Motion made to accept above by Evie, seconded by Pedro – all in favor. v Christmas Donations – Chris stated that officers discussed making donations of $100.00 each to Nurse Family Partnership and the Children’s Advocacy Center. Evie asked about Salvation Army. Jane stated that we also discussed that and would like to make a special presentation to them at the Spring Luncheon. All in favor of the above recommendations. v Nancy made a suggestion that something should be done to preserve records. Suggestions were made to seek a donation for a file cabinet and ask the Salvation Army if the cabinet could be placed there since meetings are also held there. Currently records are just passed from one Secretary and Treasurer to the next. Nancy stated that she only has a few years of records. Efforts will be made to locate additional years’ records. v AGENCY UPDATES o Red Cross requested help for a Washington Plaza family. Family was doing well until the relocation and was too late for other agency programs. She can be contacted directly: Angel McClendon – 306 Emmett St. – Scranton, 18509 – (570) 347-4067 o SCOLA – One of the students was killed in an auto accident. Most families do not have burial insurance, so a collection is being taken for the family. o 2007 Chocoholic Frolic will be Sunday, February 18 at the Radisson. Cost $20.00 For more details, visit the web at www.scolaliteracy.org o LCDC – Received a $2000 grant to sponsor children. A program will begin at UNC in January v NEXT MEETING – January 17, 2007 There being no further business, the meeting adjourned for a tour of SCOLA and holiday refreshments. Thank you to all who provided goodies and especially to SCOLA for the use of their board room and the opportunity to tour their new facility. Respectfully Submitted, Nancy Kilmer Secretary
