Lackawanna County Interagency Council Met at: Salvation Army On: September 21, 2005 The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chris Davis, President.
Note: Prior to the meeting, Major Beatrice Connell of the Salvation Army introduced herself to members present.
Twenty members were present: Chris Davis, Jane Oswald, Nancy Kilmer, Terri Stocki, Suzanne Lesniewski, Cheryl Rutkowski, Judi Cimino, Vikki Crosby, Linda Denault, Evie Vitali, Olga Harper, Marge Suarez, Joanne Stephens, Janice Lamm, Jill Blessington, Nancy Fahey, Michele Davis, Robert Cooper, Janet Kuhlthau, and Dena Rickard.
Introductions were made. Minutes were reviewed and approved. Treasurer report is $602.63
OLD BUSINESS: v Web Site – Carolyn is waiting for approval of the by-laws. v By-Laws - Nancy reviewed changes suggested by the committee that met in July. Evie Vitali made a motion to accept changes, seconded by Vikki Crosby, all in favor. By-laws will be updated and sent to Carolyn for the web site.
NEW BUSINESS: v Vice President – Marie Tierney resigned due to a job change. Chris Davis nominated Jane Oswald for the position, she accepted. Vote – all in favor. Congratulations Jane! v Christmas Meeting – The Christmas meeting will be held the second Wednesday of Dec. (12/14). Location to be announced. v Spring Luncheon Topic – Cheryl Rutkowski suggested Conserving Energy. If anyone has knows speakers on this topic or would like to suggest another topic, please contact one of the officers.
v SPEAKERS – Nancy Fahey from AmeriHealth Mercy. This is a Medicade managed care plan. Participants of Medical Assistance can choose between Access Plus, Gateway and AmeriHealth Mercy. Coverage varies between plans and individuals should assess medical needs when choosing. AmeriHealth Mercy covers dental, eyeglasses, non prescription drugs and also offers scholarships. They also have a certified Health Educator who develops Health Education Programs that are offered to the community at no cost. These programs are 20 to 30 minutes in length and are all approved by the Dept. of Public Welfare. They include: Eye Health & Safety, Asthma Management, Poison Prevention, Youth Sports Safety, Bicycle Safety, Give Your Medicine a Check Up, Adult Immunization Awareness and Diabetes Education. If you have a need for something not listed, please let them know as they may be able to develop a program to meet your needs. For community events, they need 30 days notice. v AGENCY UPDATES – o St. Joseph’s Center handed out brochures for 1-2-3 Magic, Effective Discipline for Children 2-12. Sat. Nov 5, 9a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Holiday Inn, Dunmore. Cost $5.00 for parents, $10.00 for Agency/Staff. A certificate of attendance will be available. Call 346-5741 to register.
