Lackawanna County Interagency Council Met at: Salvation Army On: April 20, 2005 For: Spring Luncheon Today’s program began with a presentation by Carolyn Tugend addressing Re-employment issues. Carolyn covered many topics of concern. A few of them are listed below: Ø Career Links is a great resource. Unemployed or just looking for a better job – some training funds are available, attend a daily workshop, take the state civil service test, and more. For employers, some tax credit and bonding is available. Ø Education – Many funding sources are available for demand occupations as well as loan forgiveness. Ø Act 101 – Provides free tutoring assistance. Check your school’s Act 101 office. Ø Transportation – City Transit provides transportation until 1:00 am. Cost is $1.25 per ride or $20.00 per month.
Carolyn also pointed out that most people spend more time planning a vacation than what they want to do with their lives! Following the presentation, we previewed the Web Site that Carolyn and Jim Pusateri have designed. The site will include Upcoming Events, Officers, Registration information, Archive for minutes, highlights and discussion topics from members for upcoming meetings, List of members and reference to agency web sites, and By-laws.
A vote was taken for the site address. It will be www.lackawannainteragency.org. The cost is $20.00 per year. Vikki Crosby, Nurse Family Partnership, made a motion that the $20.00 be paid and was seconded by Jeffery Dargatis, Allied Services. All were in favor and a check will be issued. There being no further business, we proceeded to the luncheon. Thank you to everyone who helped make the luncheon a success. Respectfully Submitted, Nancy Kilmer Secretary
