Meeting Minutes November 17, 2010 Members Present: Brooke Addley, Janette Altenhain, Jessica Carrion , Christine Davis, Linda Denault, Jessica Engel, Jill Fabri, Linda Gavin, Sylvia Kolosinsky, Linda Korgeski, Andrea Mantione, Stephanie Miller, Jane Oswald, Cindy Pintha, Kathleen Radkiewicz, Angela Seibert, Margaret Stair, Joanne Stephens, IHM Ann Walsh. 1. Welcome and Call to Order – Jane Oswald, Vice President 2. Secretary’s Report – Kathleen Radkiewicz, Secretary · Approval of Minutes. *Updated minutes to be emailed to members · Membership Sign-in Sheet was circulated. Members were asked to indicate their presence and to check information and note corrections to contact information. · Members were reminded that Membership Application is available online, via email; fax or we can snail-mail it to you. · Food donations in the form of packaged apples, and also a box of assorted greeting cards, from The Salvation Army, were, circulated by Margaret Stair. 3. Treasurer’s Report – Joanne Stephens, Treasurer Balance as of November 16, 2010, $1813.38 Joanne also returned registration forms and checks from the canceled Health Fair.
4. Roll Call, agency announcements and updates: Jane Oswald , President · Introduction of members and their agency was conducted. Members were asked to use the Agency Update Form to insure events were noted in the minutes: · Updates: “Be A Santa to a Senior”, by visiting www.beasantatoasenior.com , or my contacting Jessica Engel @ 570-687-4755. December 15th, Home Instead and keystone College will hold a gift wrapping party and deliver gifts to local seniors. “The Incredible Years” a training series for parents, teachers, will be offered at the Scranton Area Family Center/ EOTC. It is a 14 week program beginning Tuesday Jan 25 or Wednesday Jan 26 please contact Kristy Ryczak @ 348-6493 ex 34 or Jean Tomaine @ 348-6493 ex 38 Edward R Leahy Center for the Uninsured, administering free seasonal flu shots “Eat, Drink and Play for a Great Cause”, Angelo Bistocchi’s Restaurant, November 18, 5-8 PM. Board Games will be available for diners to use. 10% of dinner proceeds to benefit Northeast Cancer Institute. Celebrity Bartenders adding to the festivities. 6. New Business – Jane Oswald, Vice President * Brooke Addley shared the adopt a family information sheet, this year it is a family of 5 consisting of a mother and fath.er and 3 children. Joanne distributed checks for $100.00 to members who volunteered to shop Items will be wrapped during the holiday meeting All members are reminded to bring tape and wrapping paper
7. Program – Cindy Pintha, Child Advocacy Center. Cindy gave an in depth accounting of what the center does in terms of assisting children throughout the tragedy of abuse. The center handles situations in Lackawanna, Wayne, Pike, Monroe and Carbon Counties. They respond to any and all types of abuse reported by law enforcement, schools, health professional. A member of the Advocacy Center stays with the child to assist in information gathering, treatment, and provides long term treatment to ensure an improved recovery. The Center offers 1 major fund/ awareness raising event each Spring. “Moonlight in May” which is a 5K & 10K walk/run in Nay Aug Park For information please contact 570-969-7313 8.
